How Rankings are calculated:
Times are first normalized to a 1500m equivalent so races at different distances are comparable.
Each heat generates pairwise matchups (a 4-boat heat = 6 pairs).
SOS Rating = strength-of-schedule adjusted margin (primary sort): each team's rating converges iteratively to the mean of (margin vs opponent + opponent's own rating). Beating a strong opponent by 10s counts more than beating a weak one by 30s — teams with easy schedules see their ratings pulled toward the median. Raw Margin = simple average time difference vs all opponents, shown for reference with no opponent adjustment.
